Connemara Country Cottages, is situated about five miles from the village of Oughterard, the fishing capital of Ireland, which is adjacent to Lough Corrib. Oughterard is some 19 miles from Galway City, on the N59, which connects Galway with Clifden.
The Resort has six cottages, four with three bedrooms and two with two bedrooms. The cottages are situated high up in a fold on a hillside, commanding a magnificent view in a quiet and very beautiful area of Connemara. It is suitable for those who enjoy the outdoor life away from the stress. Located in this very scenic area of Leam East, immediately adjacent to the 'Quiet Man Bridge' where John Wayne threw Maureen O' Hara into the water. This is a superb quaint setting in the surroundings of the Connemara mountains with 6 wonderful cottages to be found, namely The Corrib, The Masc, The Agraffard, The Boffin, The Bengower, and The Benbrack, after renowned landmarks in the Connemara region.
The cottages are designed for self-catering but could be easily sold individually to provide for excellent quality living accommodation for a private residence. The location offers a excellent base to tour Connemara, the west of Ireland and climb all of the various mountains, The Twelve Bens, The Maamturks, The Joyce Country, Mweelrea, Nephin, Maug Treasna and Devil's Widow. The cottages have a very traditional feel internally representing the character and time of the thatch cottage. They are modernised featuring all modern facilities including oil-fired heating system, kitchens and built-in wardrobes, tiled bathrooms, etc.
